The Master of Science in Human Resources Management (MSHRM) program at South University is a graduate-level degree designed to help students pursue careers where they can contribute to company growth and success by managing human capital. This program is specifically tailored for working professionals and accepts students who have earned a Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.

The curriculum requires 48 Credit Hours and explores the multiple roles of HR practitioners. Key topics covered include employment and labor laws, generally accepted business and ethical principles, HR planning and measurement, and consultative approaches to change management. The program delves into the functional areas of HRM such as Organizational Staffing, Classification, Compensation, and Benefits, Performance Management, and Training and Development, as well as Labor Unions, Workplace Safety, and Security, and International Human Resources Management.

The program integrates components of the Human Resources Competency Model and is identified as being aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recommended minimum standards for degree-based coursework. Students will learn to apply ethical principles and business practices, use HR metrics, and analyze organizational development principles. The program culminates in a Capstone in Human Resources Management (HRM6999) or an elective option such as Internal Consulting (HRM5090) or Internship in Human Resources Management (HRM5080).

Potential career options for graduates include roles such as Compensation or Benefit Manager, Human Resources Manager, Training and Development Manager, Labor Relations Manager, and Employee Relations Manager. Admission requirements for the MSHRM program include completing an application for admission, submitting official transcripts from an accredited college or university showing completion of a bachelor’s degree with a 2.0 overall GPA or higher (or an earned graduate degree).
