Human Resources Degree Program at Boston University

The Boston University online Master of Science (MS) in Human Resources Management program was designed to equip students with skills in organizing structure, technology, and human assets to maximize productivity, manage change, and achieve competitiveness and sustainability in a firm. The curriculum offers a broad perspective on the complexity of today’s international company with its diversified labor force and global operations.

Admission Requirements & CEBS Recognition

Admission to this program required five years of professional experience, or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification, as the program structure provides advanced perspectives. Boston University recognizes the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist ® (CEBS ® ) designation as the equivalent of four graduate-level courses.

Degree Requirements

For individuals without the CEBS designation, a total of 12 courses (48 units) were required. This included seven Core Courses (28 units) covering areas such as MET AD 632 Financial Concepts, MET AD 642 Project Management, MET AD 655 International Business, Economics, and Cultures, and MET AD 715 Quantitative and Qualitative Decision-Making. Additionally, four Specialization Courses (16 units) like MET AD 610 Enterprise Risk Management and MET AD 743 Managing Employees, Professionals, and Teams were mandatory, plus one elective.

Individuals with CEBS certification could complete the program with eight courses (32 units), including specific courses from the core and specialization lists like MET AD 632 Financial Concepts, MET AD 610 Enterprise Risk Management, and MET AD 743 Managing Employees, Professionals, and Teams.
