Human Resources Degree Program at Stephen F Austin State University

The Human Resource Management Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Stephen F Austin State University (SFA), part of the Nelson Rusche College of Business’s Department of Management and Marketing, prepares students for challenging, dynamic careers. HR professionals play a strategic role in helping organizations develop human capital needed for long-term success by managing all stages of the employment process, including recruiting, hiring, payroll, benefits, training and development, termination, and retirement. This program aims to provide students with a strategic education and the skills necessary to make a difference within an organization.

All undergraduate students at SFA must complete the university’s core curriculum. Business students are required to complete two business common courses, including the **Career Success Passport**. BBA students must also complete foundations of knowledge business courses.

Curriculum Details

The specialized curriculum for the HRM BBA includes several required courses:

  • BLAW 4356 – Employment and Agency Law
  • MGMT 3373 – Human Resource Management
  • MGMT 3379 – Employee and Labor Relations
  • MGMT 4373 – Strategic Human Resource Management
  • MGMT 4384 – Compensation and Benefits

An additional three credit hours are chosen from options like **BUSI 4300** (Negotiation and Alternate Dispute Resolution), **BUSI 4361** (Professional Development and Integration), **ECON 4339** (Labor Economics), **MGMT 3377** (Organizational Behavior), or **MGMT 4361** (Supervisory Management). Admissions and Opportunities

SFA is currently accepting undergraduate applications for the second part of the spring 2025 term, summer 2025, and fall 2025. Prospective students can submit an undergraduate application. Students earning their BBA in the Rusche College of Business may be eligible to enroll in the BBA-to-MBA overlap program to get a head start on their graduate degree.
