Human Resources Degree Program at Limestone University

The Limestone University Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Resource Management program is designed to educate students on managing employee development within organizations and providing related services. The curriculum covers a broad range of topics including personnel and organizational policy, human resource dynamics, labor relations, civil rights, HR laws and regulations, motivation and compensation systems, career management, employee testing, recruitment, selection, job training, and program operations.

The program’s curriculum is academically aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) guidelines. This alignment helps prepare students for professional certification, making senior students eligible to register for the SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP®) Certification exams. Most instructors are also Certified Professionals in HRM, further supporting student development of the SHRM Body of Competence & Knowledge.

Students have study options including the traditional Day program and a flexible Online program. The online degree program offers the same content and curriculum as the on-campus version, delivered through the Canvas online learning system. The online format is asynchronous, meaning there are no specific required times to be online, designed around eight-week terms focusing on two courses at a time. Online students may also be eligible to transfer credits from other accredited colleges.

The program requires a total of 120 credit hours, including 51 credit hours of required core HR/Business courses, 9 credit hours of additional Business or Human Resource Management Electives, and required Competency & General Education courses. Key courses listed include Introduction to Human Resource Management, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational Development, Talent Acquisition and Retention, Managing Diversity in the Workplace, Strategic Human Resources Management, and Employment & Labor Law.

Graduates are prepared for diverse roles in the HR field, such as HR Business Partner, HR Consultant, Employee Benefits Manager, Compensation manager, Talent Acquisition, Recruitment Specialist, Labor Relations Specialist/Consultant, HR Administrator, and Training/Talent Development Specialist.

Cost information for the 2024-2025 academic year is provided. For the Day program, full-time tuition (up to 18 semester hours) is $13,350 per semester, while part-time day students pay $1,113 per credit hour, in addition to various fees, room, and board costs.
