Human Resources Degree Program at Walden University

Walden University offers an online MS in Human Resource Management program designed to prepare individuals for leadership roles in HR and guide organizations in creating thriving work environments. The program aims to help students transform HR practices and develop confidence in empowering others in diverse settings.

Program Structure and Curriculum

The program requires 50 quarter credits for completion and is offered in two distinct tracks. Track 1 is suitable for those without a recognized human resource professional certification and focuses on a solid foundation in HR management, including pertinent laws and regulations. Track 2 is designed for experienced HR professionals, allowing them to explore advanced topics such as HR strategy in the business context and global workforce considerations.

Both tracks include core courses and a 5-quarter credit Capstone. Track 1 consists of 45 qtr. cr. core courses and 5 qtr. cr. capstone. Track 2 comprises 20 qtr. cr. core courses, 25 qtr. cr. elective courses, and 5 qtr. cr. capstone. Featured courses cover areas like Foundations of Human Resource Management, Individual and Organizational Performance Management, Legal and Regulatory Environment, Human Resource Analytics, Conflict Management and Negotiation, Benefits, Compensation, and Resource Allocation, Strategic Positioning and Social Change, and Global and Cultural Effectiveness.

The curriculum is explicitly aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) standards. Students can choose from two capstone options: a traditional Strategic Human Resource Management capstone or a Meeting SHRM Competencies capstone designed to help prepare for SHRM certification exams.
