Human Resources Degree Program at Capella University

The Capella University online Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MS in HRM) program is designed for students seeking to elevate their professional HR skill set. The program aims to develop expertise in human resource theory and practice, strengthening graduates’ ability to consult, teach, or lead in professional settings. The curriculum emphasizes developing leadership and influencing skills through behavioral competencies and applying evidence-based decision-making to align strategy and practice and partner with organizational leadership.

Offered exclusively online, the program provides two learning formats to fit different lifestyles:

  • FlexPath: Allows students to set their own deadlines, complete courses at their own speed, and potentially finish faster with a single tuition fee every 12-week billing session. Based on the fastest 25% of students, the degree can be earned in 15 months and under $18,000 (cost varies by pace, transfer credits, fees, etc.). You can explore this format and try a FlexPath Trial Course.
  • GuidedPath: Offers structured learning with fixed weekly deadlines, 10-week quarters, and tuition billed per credit. It allows up to three classes per quarter.

The program offers two specializations: General HR Management and HR Management in Health Care. It’s important to note that the MS in Human Resource Management with specialization in Health Care is NOT accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), while the overall university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Admission requirements generally include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.3 GPA, official transcripts, a valid photo ID, and a completed application. GRE and GMAT are not required. Specific requirements for the General HRM and HRM in Health Care specializations are available online.

Students can potentially save time and money through transfer credit and credit for prior learning. Additional savings are available for eligible individuals through Military benefits and Employer benefits. Capella also offers scholarships like the Progress Reward scholarships and student/alumni referral scholarships.

Support services are available at every step, including financing assistance, academic support (Writing Center, library, tutoring), and extensive Career Development Center resources like resume help, interview prep, and career coaching. Expert faculty bring real-world knowledge to the online classroom, and the School of Business, Technology, and Health Care Administration Advisory Board helps keep curriculum relevant.
