Human Resources Degree Program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology

The Human Resource Management program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) is designed to prepare students for the growing demand for HR professionals and help them kickstart or advance their careers. Students learn to play a vital role in helping businesses manage their employees effectively.

The program caters to a broad audience, including existing business leaders seeking talent strategies, individuals new to the HR field, and professionals aiming for industry certification or recertification. It emphasizes small class sizes to ensure personalized attention and provide hands-on training for an enriched learning experience.

The curriculum is meticulously developed, drawing insights from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI®), the Society for HR Management (SHRM®), and experienced HR professionals. LWTech offers multiple pathways in Human Resource Management, including the Applied Management – Human Resource Management, BAS; Human Resource Management, AAS-T; Human Resource Management Certificate of Proficiency; Human Resource Strategic Management Certificate of Completion; and Human Resource Talent Management Certificate of Completion.

Program classes are offered in various formats to accommodate different learning needs: On-campus or Live Instruction, Online (Teams), and a Combination of online and on-campus (hybrid or hyflex).

As an open enrollment college, LWTech welcomes all students. Entry into the program generally requires completion of LWTech’s general online application. Specific prerequisites and application information for the BAS program are available separately. Admission dates are offered for Fall Quarter, Winter Quarter, Spring Quarter, and Summer Quarter. Students should consult the class schedule and work with an advisor as not all courses are offered every quarter; required developmental coursework may also impact program length. While the college is committed to inclusion, students should be aware that some future employers in the industry may require background checks or drug tests, and advisors can discuss alternative options if needed.

The LWTech HR program is recognized as Certified and Award Winning. It has met HR Certification Institute’s (HRCI) criteria for recertification credit pre-approval and is recognized by SHRM® to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP SM or SHRM-SCP SM. The program also supports students in exploring career paths and offers information on transferring to other colleges or universities, noting that applied bachelor’s degrees can enhance job market prospects and earning potential.
