Human Resources Degree Program at The University of Texas at Dallas

The Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management program at The University of Texas at Dallas, housed within the Naveen Jindal School of Management, prepares students for vital roles serving as the link between management and employees. The curriculum combines a strong foundation in general business principles with specialized knowledge in the many facets of human resources.

The program is designed to equip students with the skills needed for a variety of roles in a field projected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to experience significant growth in Texas over the next decade. Potential career paths include HR generalist, compensation and benefits analyst, training and development specialist, HR analyst, labor relations specialist, and recruiter.

Students will learn fundamental concepts such as talent acquisition, training and development, total rewards, employee engagement and change, labor relations, and leadership, and how these are applied in organizational settings. A key focus is developing the ability to understand and apply major employment laws governing areas like hiring, safety, pay, and compliance.

The program is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) curriculum guidelines, allowing students from UT Dallas to be eligible to take the SHRM-CP certification exam before graduation. Practical experience is emphasized through required completion of an internship and 100 hours of community service. Students receive support for career preparation, including internships and post-graduation employment, from the Jindal School’s fully staffed Career Management Center (CMC) and the University’s Career Center.

Opportunities for advanced study include a Fast-Track option, enabling eligible students to apply up to 12 credit hours toward a related master’s degree in the Jindal School.
