The Human Resource Management program at Maryville College is designed for students who enjoy working with people and aspire to facilitate organizational success. The program incorporates coursework beyond traditional business, including Introductory Psychology, Social Psychology, Introductory Sociology, and Group Facilitation, to provide a comprehensive understanding of human interaction and behavior.

The major consists of 51 hours in business and related fields. Required courses include core subjects like Principles of Management (BUS 201), Principles of Accounting (BUS 215), Organizational Behavior (BUS 305), Human Resource Management (BUS 333), Principles of Finance (BUS 344), and Strategic Management (BUS 401). The program also includes a required Senior Study sequence (BUS 351 and BUS 352). Note that a double major is not permitted in certain combinations of business majors including Human Resource Management.

A unique aspect of the program is the interaction with the Business Advisory Board, comprised of accomplished local business and community leaders. The Board meets twice a year to provide input on industry challenges, influencing curriculum and offering students opportunities for interaction, presentations, and workshops.
