Human Resources Degree Program at Manhattanville College

Manhattanville University offers a Master of Human Resource Management program designed to train students to become successful HR professionals taking on a strategic role in today’s global and complex markets. The program emphasizes the critical importance of attracting, training, developing, and retaining top talent.

Graduates are prepared to be HR business partners capable of managing a broad range of activities, including total rewards, employee and labor relations, HR legal and regulatory environments, and HR technologies. The curriculum aligns with the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidebook, integrating up-to-date research and best practices.

Program Format and Duration

The MS program requires 36 credits. It is designed for working professionals with courses primarily offered in the evenings and on weekends, including an accelerated weekend format. While mostly classroom-based, some classes are available in hybrid or online formats. The program can be completed in as little as 18 months of part-time study, assuming two classes per term. Enrollment offers flexibility with starts available in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter terms.

Advanced Certificate

An Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management is also available, requiring 12 credits (four courses). This certificate provides core knowledge in the dynamic HR area and can be taken as a standalone credential or applied toward the Master of Science degree. It is suitable for individuals looking to deepen knowledge, gain new expertise, or update skills.

Faculty and Learning Environment

The program is taught by leading practitioner faculty and industry partners who bring real-world experience into the classroom. Classes are typically small and highly interactive, fostering networking opportunities.

Career Outcomes and Support

Graduates have pursued careers as HR management advisors and compensation administrators, among other HR roles. The university’s Center for Career Development provides career assistance for life, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.

Admissions Information

Applications require an online application, a personal essay (500-750 words), a current resume, and official transcripts from all previously attended schools (an earned undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred, though a slightly lower GPA may be considered with significant workplace history). Two letters of recommendation (academic or professional) and a $75 application fee are also required. The GRE or GMAT are optional.
