Human Resources Degree Program at University of Kentucky

The University of Kentucky’s Master of Science in Strategic Human Resource Management and Analytics (SHRMA) is a 30 credit-hour graduate program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to advance their careers in HR and adapt to the evolving field. The program aims to help students elevate their contributions within organizations.

The curriculum balances fundamental HR concepts with specialized areas. Students engage with coursework covering HR-based analytics, such as People Analytics, Organizational Network Analysis, Research Methods, and HRIS. It also delves into strategic HR topics like Strategic Planning and Integration, Change Management, and Negotiations and Conflict Resolution. A key component is the experiential Capstone course (MGT 670), allowing students to apply learned principles to real organizational challenges.

The program offers a 100% Flexible format, supporting Online, In-Person, and Blended learning. Most classes are scheduled one night per week in the evening (6:00-8:30 pm), with some late afternoon sessions.

Admissions

Admission requires an online application and a $75 fee. Applicants need a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75, unofficial transcripts (officials required upon admission), Two Letters of Recommendation, a Personal Statement (800-900 words), a Resume, and potentially a virtual interview. Notably, GRE and GMAT scores are waived for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 admissions. Specific admission deadlines for Fall (Domestic: July 26, International: April 15) and Spring (multiple rounds, Final Domestic: November 1, Final International: August 1) semesters are provided. International candidates have additional requirements, including English Proficiency (minimum TOEFL 79 or IELTS 6.5, with potential waivers) and must maintain at least nine credit hours per semester, which can be reduced in the final semester. More details for international candidates can be found via the International FAQ.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition is billed equally over three semesters, with a University program fee billed over Fall and Spring semesters. An optional Becker CPA Review course is available at an estimated cost of $3,000 (2023/24). The program offers a limited number of partial scholarships based on need and merit. Students can also explore external funding like SHRM Foundation scholarships and University-level funding opportunities through the Graduate School. Refund policies and other cost information are available via the Student Account Services website.
